"Let the food be your medicine and medicine be your food." -Hippocrates

Food is medicine. It can make us sick or make us well. Chinese dietary therapy is an art and science that has been perfected over more than 2,000 years. With a Bachelor's in Nutrition and a thesis focus on Chinese dietary therapy, Michelle will work with you to recommend foods specific to your health condition, and help you to create meal plans that work for your body. Whether your goal is to lose weight, improve digestion, clear up skin or boost energy, patients are surprised at how simple but effective diet changes can be.

Digestion itself is a cooking process. Metabolism is thought of as a flame that resides between the kidneys in the lower abdomen (lower burner). Above that is the Spleen/Stomach duo which represents the pot or cauldron into which food goes (middle burner). Some foods support this cooking process and increase metabolism, while other douse the digestive fire. Finally, there is an upper burner represented by the lungs where liquids are misted. Think of the condensation that occurs in a distillery.

Chinese dietary explains why:

Foods cause nasal and sinus congestion.

Digestion is the root of your immunity.

Improper digestion can cause fatigue.

Michelle will work with you on your diet as part of your acupuncture treatment plan, or you can set up a Chinese nutrition consultation. Click here to schedule.
